Grain Market Update - December 2020

We are 2 weeks away from the highly anticipated January USDA report where they will give us the final yield number and update quarterly stocks. Trade is expecting the stocks numbers to be bullish. For almost 6 weeks straight we saw export sales of beans and domestic demand is staying strong as crush margins remain good. Ethanol is the big question on the corn side- negative ethanol margins for Q1 2021 have processors contemplating if the plants should stay running or shut down for a period of time. Harvest 2020

On Monday, October 5, our Hope location had the biggest day ever! There were 416,000 bushels dumped by 485 trucks in 14.5 hours. Break that down, and it’s one truck every two minutes!

Crop Ratings and USDA Quarterly Stocks Report

As of June 22, NASS estimated that 72% of the corn crop was in a good-to-excellent condition which is up 1 % from 71% the previous week. It was also well above 56% at the same time a year ago. Chris Whitehead - Grain Marketer
