Vernon Center Mill Update

By Dave Limoges - Feed Sales Manager

Work is underway at the Vernon Center feed mill site.

Crews have been busy setting forms, adding rebar, and pouring concrete for the feed mill expansion project.

The large concrete pad is the foundation and floor for the four, 87-ton ingredient bins and the new MCC room which will sit on the south end of the pad. There are 37 Geopier pilings under the foundation that average 66 feet deep and 23,000 lbs. of rebar was used within the foundation. There will be a scale that sits under the new ingredient bins and a conveyor to transfer the product into the existing mixer.

On the north side of the mill, a smaller foundation and floor will house a new roller mill which will produce 36-ton of ground corn per hour. Crews will pour the walls and ceiling for the new roller mill next week.

Work will also begin on the foundation and pad for the new loadout bins. There will be 33 Geopier pilings under the new loadout bay.

We are excited to see the progress and will keep everyone updated as things move forward. If you have any questions about the project, please feel free to reach out to any of the feed team members
