Summer Intern Experience

By Katie Nelson - Human Resource Intern

Throughout the summer our interns have each had unique experiences learning hands on what it is like to work in their chosen area of study. We've caught up with some of them to get their take on their time at Crystal Valley thus far.

Hi, my name is Savanah Krenz and I am from Truman, Minnesota. I currently go to school at Southwest Minnesota State University in Marshall, Minnesota and am majoring in agronomy. This is my second summer interning with Crystal Valley and I’ve enjoyed every minute of it! Last summer with the Precision Ag internship, we spent a lot of time planting test plots, soil sampling, and scouting fields with drones- which was really fun! This summer, I decided to do the agronomy sales internship. So far, my summer has consisted of a lot of delivering seed to farmers, which I’ve really enjoyed doing along with learning how to run the seed tender. I’ve also been spending a lot of time scouting for weeds and crop health which I really enjoy because I get to see different fields and soil types and how the crops react to different growing environments. I am looking forward to the rest of the summer and everything else I will learn!

My name is Josh Moore. I work out of Madelia with the Precision Ag team. I have spent the majority of my time so far planting the replicated plots and soil sampling. The thing that I have enjoyed the most during my time at Crystal Valley is all the opportunities to learn. Whether it is from challenges in the field or training sessions, employees are always willing to take the time to help me further understand different situations.
