Retirement Announcement

Jeff Spence, Vice President of Grain, has announced his impending retirement, effective August 19, 2021. Spence has served as the Vice President of Crystal Valley’s Grain Division since 2007, and his cooperative experience spans more than 42 years.

Jeff began his cooperative career with Harvest States GTA and managed coops in Minnesota, North Dakota, and Montana. He also spent three and a half years in the Peace Corps, stationed in Romania.

“I have been fortunate to work with Jeff for the past 14-plus years. I will greatly miss his wealth of experience and big picture perspective gained through his years as a general manager in multiple states throughout the upper Midwest. Jeff has had many accomplishments during his career with Crystal Valley, most notably building a greenfield shuttle loader in Hope, MN, completed in 2014.” said Roger Kienholz, Crystal Valley CEO.

Jeff plans to move back to Romania, spending his time as a volunteer and teaching English at local schools and orphanages.

“I have been truly thankful to be part of the Crystal Valley family over the years, and I have enjoyed working with the employees and patrons,” Spence said. “I wish Crystal Valley employees and patrons much success in the coming years.”

The search for a new VP of Grain will begin immediately with the hope of having someone in place by the fall harvest.
