Learn More about RFD:

Ready to save time, money and worries with our advanced fuel delivery system?

Our energy division staff is excited about offering you the benefits of proven Cenex® Automated Fuel Delivery, also called the Refined Fuels Distribution (RFD) system. If you have a question that is not answered below, please call Darin Wilmes at 507-995-2892.

What is the RFD system? An electronic monitoring system is installed in your bulk fuel tank. When the fuel drops below your predetermined level, the monitor sends a signal to our fuel distribution center, and the nearest delivery truck is routed to fill your tank. This remarkable system is only available from authorized Cenex® fuel distributors.

Will I still be buying locally? Who will deliver my fuel? This program is a collaboration between Crystal Valley Coop and CHS, our fuel supplier. As a Crystal Valley Coop fuels customer, you will buy locally and receive personal service (and billing) from Crystal Valley– but your fuel will be delivered by CHS. In conjunction with our transition to this system, it is anticipated that several of our drivers will become CHS fuel drivers.

Is there a cost to be on the program? There is no charge to convert to the RFD system. We will supply, install and service the monitors and controllers at no cost to you. And, you can discontinue the service at any time.

What billing options will I have? There are three billing options. The most popular is deferred billing; each month, the monitor estimates the amount of product you have used and you are billed for that amount, even though your tank is kept at a predetermined level. If you prefer, you can choose to be billed at delivery or you can contract a fixed price. You can also choose to buy out the fuel in your tank at any time, or put a hold on the tank when not in use.

What is average monthly pricing? Customers who choose deferred billing option (see above) can also take advantage of this valuable risk management tool. Rather than paying the price posted on the day the fuel was delivered (or used), you’ll be charged the average price for that entire month.

Is the program flexible? Yes. We will work with you to make this flexible program fit your needs. You can determine your minimum tank level, schedule delivery times, forward contract, buy inventories in your tank or use numerous price strategies to lock in favorable fuel prices. You maintain total control over your fuel supply management, and you can log onto a website 24/7 to check your tank levels and your current and historical fuel usage.

Does this program benefit only big customers? No, all homeowners and businesses can benefit from this program. Regardless of size, you will now be able to fill your tank up without the upfront expense and avoid having money tied up in inventory that is just sitting in your tank. You will always have a reliable supply of quality fuel on hand without disruption and without the hassles of checking tanks and calling in orders.

Will I need a bigger tank? Your tank(s) will be properly sized to your needs, which means you may get a new tank. The program is designed to be environmentally friendly by efficiently managing deliveries and minimizing trips down your driveway. You can rest assured that our routing system knows local road limits so we won’t overload the trucks.

What fuels can I have delivered? We offer high-quality, high-performance fuels that keep your equipment running in top shape, including Cenex Ruby Fieldmaster® premium ag diesel fuel, Cenex Roadmaster XL® premium highway diesel fuel, unleaded gasolines, and #1 and #2 seasonal diesel fuel. Fuel freshness can be maintained by reducing off-season fuel inventories; we will work with you to develop a plan for winter blending if desired.

How do I get started? Call Darin Wilmes at 507-995-2892 today to schedule an appointment so we can complete a profile of your tank sizes, products used and GPS coordinates.

Say goodbye to the old-fashioned way of ordering and paying for fuel.
